Faun

material:
Elm, leather

Faun springs out of my relationship with an old firewood basket, constructed from thin strips of wood woven together—called spånkorg in Swedish, a traditional craft. In 2024, the inner urge to explore these proportions and transform them into furniture became too strong to ignore. The result was Faun, which I exhibited at Greenhouse, Stockholm Furniture Fair 2025, and later at Stockholm creative edition 2025. Created from thin and wide strips of elm wood, these proportions give the material great strength in one direction and flexibility in the other. I have worked with these properties in the construction of the pieces. This project is also a continuation of my exploration of steam bending—a technique that in a simple way makes it possible to create strong, complex shapes while using less material and energy.
